Vocal teaching & mentorship
For the past 30 years, alongside my performing and directing careers, I have always had an active vocal studio. Vocal technique (in particular bel canto training) is a constant source of renewal for me. I love working with students who are searching for a way to incorporate singing into their lives, either professionally or as a part of a balanced life.

In an industry that provides very few careers for the many who are called to sing, there can be a real struggle to find a way to keep that singer part of our identities alive. After leaving a training program or institution, it can also be difficult to connect with a new teacher who can help you reach the next level of development.

I believe that if you are called to sing, whether as an amateur or a professional, there is a reason. There is something you can only express through vocalism. I want to help you find a relationship to singing that helps you to feel fulfilled, excited, challenged and inspired by your gift. There are so many ways to be a singer in the world, and together we can find the version that feels right to you.

My teaching is focused on interoception (internal sensory awareness). Together, we enhance your ability to detect sensations and your knowledge of the functioning of your instrument. We discuss the context and content of the music we're working on, and we look for those personal connections to the material.
The vibe of my studio is warm, focussed and non-judgmental.

My goal is to help you to be independent, and to have the tools to interpret music with freedom and confidence. I teach every voice type, with a special interest in those who are transitioning from one voice type to another, or are experiencing hormonal shifts.

With ten years of non-profit management experience, I also provide mentorship to those who are starting their own creative projects.
